(ORANGE, Calif.) – In a unanimous vote by the Los Angeles City Council, the contracts with SuperShuttle, and Prime Time Shuttle were renewed, protecting the jobs of more than 70 workers represented by Teamsters Local 952 in Orange, Calif.

In May, the Los Angeles City Council passed a resolution which prohibits doing business with corporations in the state of Arizona. As a result, the contracts with SuperShuttle, LAX, were in danger of being cut because the company was allegedly based in Arizona. SuperShuttle is actually a French-owned company, Veolia, and its U.S. headquarters are in Lombard, Ill. The Los Angeles City Council confirmed that no resources or monies from taxpayers in the City of Los Angeles were going to Arizona as a result of the contracts.

“We had great support from Mayor Villaraigosa and Councilwoman Janice Hahn and commend the entire Los Angeles City Council, along with Maria Elena Durazo, Executive Secretary Treasurer of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor, for standing with working families at LAX,” said Patrick D. Kelly, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 952.

“Our members at SuperShuttle and the other employees of SuperShuttle work hard and deserve to be able to continue their employment,” Kelly said.

Teamsters Local 952 represents more than 9,000 hardworking men and women in Orange County, California and the vicinity.
